CHAIRMAN, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, DIRECTOR
Joe is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ceres Group Holdings (CGH). He is a cannabis industry investor, entrepreneur, and a former portfolio manager and advisor. After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science, Joe engaged in commodities arbitrage before working at Goldman Sachs for over ten years as a portfolio manager and advisor. He later founded Green Linc, Inc and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Ceres Venture Partners. Since its founding in late 2016, CGH has completed cannabis brand, ancillary, and international transactions. Joe currently sits on the board of directors of Fotmer Life Sciences Uruguay, a Uruguayan licensed cannabis producer, and exporter of medical grade cannabis to legal markets around the world. Prior to founding CGH, Joe started a cannabis distribution and transportation company located in Northern California, brokering sales of input materials to cannabis product manufacturers. Joe has also successfully completed Level I and Level II of the Chartered Financial Analyst Program from the CFA Institute.
PRESIDENT, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER, DIRECTOR
Jordan is the Managing Director of Sierra Bonita Holdings, LLC, a family investment office, for which he is responsible for evaluating, structuring and managing a multi-strategy portfolio. Jordan is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of PLAYLIST, a premier lifestyle fitness brand. Jordan has over 14 years of investment, legal and strategic brand building experience. He has invested in, and been an advisor to, companies in the consumer, technology and wellness industries. Jordan began his career at Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP, an international law firm, as an Associate in the Corporate Department, working on a broad range of transactions, including but not limited to, cross-border M&A, capital markets, restructurings and other private equity deals. Jordan received a Bachelor of Science & Management in Finance from Tulane University where he graduated magna cum laude and a Juris Doctor with Honors from Emory University School of Law, where he was an Editor of the Emory Law Journal. Jordan is admitted to the California, New York and New Jersey State bars.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Michael is a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Ceres Group Holdings (CGH). He previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of Ceres Venture Partners and has been an investor in the regulated cannabis market since 2016. Michael has developed meaningful relationships with early entrepreneurs and company founders across verticals, including technology, supply chain and consumer packaged goods. Prior to his work in the regulated cannabis industry, Michael began his career in business development for various agencies and media companies, such as AOL, Hearst, Cox Media and Zeta. At CGH, Michael spearheads many aspects of the firm’s customized cannabis diligence processes through his unique relationships and understanding of the licensing, structural, manufacturing, and branding issues that are common in the industry. Michael played Division 1 college basketball at Duquesne University before transferring to Southern Connecticut State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems.
Mr. Brian Goldberg is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Socati Corporation. He was formerly the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President of Corporate Development of Amplify Snack Brands, Inc. (a TA Associates portfolio company) from the company’s formation in 2014 through to its successful exit via a sale to The Hershey Company in 2018 for approximately $1.6 billion. Brian led an initial public offering of Amplify in 2015 and completed multiple M&A transactions throughout his tenure. Brian was previously Chief Financial Officer at Badlands Power Fuels, LLC through to its successful exit to Heckmann Corporation in 2012 and served as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Sweet Leaf Tea Company (a Catterton Partners portfolio company) through its successful exit via a sale to Nestle in 2011. Earlier in his career, he worked at New Capital Partners, a private equity firm, and served in financial planning and strategy roles at Pfizer and international corporate tax planning roles at Ernst & Young. He has been a director, advisory board member and/or investor in many high growth CPG companies including Deep Eddy Vodka (sold successfully to Heaven Hill in 2015), High Brew Coffee, Waterloo Sparkling Water, Epic Provisions (sold successfully to General Mills), and Kettle&Fire. He is also a Co-founder and Managing Director of Capstream Group, an investment bank based in Austin, Texas, as well as a Co-founder and board director of WLDKAT, a cannabis health and beauty brand based in Los Angeles. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Management with a major in accounting from Tulane University, a Master of Accountancy with an emphasis in taxation from the University of Georgia, and a Master of Business Administration from The Darden School at The University of Virginia. He is on the board of Naturally Austin, the Austin chapter of JDRF, on the Dean’s Business Council at Tulane University, and is a major contributor to the Friends of Austin City Limits.
Jordan is the Chief Financial Officer of 72andSunny, a full-service international advertising and marketing company. Jordan is a strategic leader with expertise developing data driven insights to innovate adjacent business models, drive topline growth and scale disciplined operations. Jordan has successfully led companies through two successful exits, from $2M to $200M revenues, and from loss-making to profitable. He has conceived and executed complex, multi-party international joint ventures, business-line expansions, acquisitions, and divestments that have propelled his businesses to sustainable and profitable growth as a result of his ability to plan over a multi-year horizon and opportunistically pivot. Jordan has previously served in Chief Financial Officer roles with multiple organizations, including Studio71 LP, a global digital media company and Virtu Financial, one of the leading technology companies providing financial services, trading products and market making services. Jordan will serve on the Corporation’s audit committee. Jordan received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Michigan, a Masters of Business Taxation from the University of Southern California – Marshall School and an Executive Masters of Business Administration from the University of Michigan – Stephen M. Ross School.
Tahira is President of T3 Ventures, Inc. and member of the board of directors of the board of directors of Superette, a cannabis retailer, and Akerna Corp (NASDAQ:KERN), formerly MTech Acquisition Corp. Tahira has previously held positions at Hypur Ventures, MTech Acquisition Corp., Marley Natural, Privateer Holdings, City First Enterprises, Perry Capital, and Ernst & Young. She is an investor and adviser to numerous cannabis businesses and entrepreneurs, including the advisory board of The Initiative and the Last Prisoner Project, and is dedicated to developing female and minority leadership in the industry. Tahira will serve on the Corporation’s audit committee. Tahira earned her MBA from the Yale School of Management and B.S. in Finance from The Ohio State University.
DR. ERVIN BRAUN
Dr. Ervin Braun is a serial entrepreneur and investor, having amassed a portfolio of assets across various industries. With over 30 years of experience owning and operating a maxillofacial prosthodontic practice, Ervin is a director and serves as Chief Executive Officer of OptMed, Inc., a bioscience company manufacturing a recent U.S. FDA- approved medical adhesive. Ervin is also a co-founder of Ceres Group Holdings, has managed an asset-based lending fund, and is an investor and advisor to multiple companies in the cannabis, medtech, media, and entertainment sectors. Ervin founded, directed, and coached a nationally-recognized AAU basketball program over a 20-year span, which successfully placed over 70 student-athletes into college basketball programs. He received his Bachelor of Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and earned a Doctorate of Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania.
